Dr. Erwin has practiced across primary care, oncology, hematology, post-acute care, urgent care, university health, and integrative telehealth. That breadth is not incidental, it is what gives BridgeWell its systems-based foundation.
The turning point came during her years in oncology. A patient declined traditional treatment, and instead of dismissing that decision, Dr. Erwin worked alongside a naturopathic doctor to support them within their care. It worked. And it showed her something she could not unsee: conventional and integrative medicine are not competing approaches. They are meant to work together.

Dr. Erwin has taught nurse practitioners at the graduate and doctoral level for over 16 years, including faculty positions at Frontier Nursing University, United States University, MCPHS, Walden University, and Capella University.
She has designed and implemented doctoral NP residency and clinical training models at the university level. In 2024 she was recognized with the Outstanding Faculty of the Year award from Capella University, and received the Teaching Excellence Award from Capella in 2021.

Built From the Gap. Not From Theory.
As I continued practicing and teaching nurse practitioners at the graduate and doctoral level, I saw the same pattern repeatedly. Clinicians were capable, thoughtful, and well trained. But when patients did not fit a single diagnosis or respond to standard approaches, there was no clear framework for what to do next.
Many clinicians began exploring functional and lifestyle medicine. But what they often encountered was overwhelming information, protocols without context, or training that did not translate into real-world clinical decision-making within the nurse practitioner scope. The problem was not a lack of knowledge. It was the absence of a structured way to think through complex presentations across systems while still practicing safely, ethically, and within scope. BridgeWell was developed to close that gap.
